Hexagram 57
巽

The Steady Wind

xùn · Wind over Wind

Keep pressing gently; steady small pressure moves more than force.

The judgment

Like wind entering every gap, a small, steady influence succeeds in modest ways. It helps to have somewhere to go, and to seek out someone wise who can guide you.

The six lines

Line 1 · Yin

You step forward and back, unable to decide. What you need is a soldier's firm resolve.

Line 2 · Yang

You kneel low, down beneath the bed, searching hidden corners. Call many scribes and shamans to bring it to light. This is favorable and blameless.

Line 3 · Yang

You yield over and over, frowning all the while. Gentleness done grudgingly becomes a humbling weakness.

Line 4 · Yin

Regret falls away. Out on the hunt you take game of three kinds, and what you gain serves many needs.

Line 5 · Yang

Hold steady: good fortune, no regret, nothing amiss. A poor start can end well. Plan three days before the change, review three after; it goes well.

Line 6 · Yang

You yield too far, down under the bed, and lose your means and your axe. Holding to this is a real caution.
