Fire lives only by holding on to something. Choose what you cling to with care and stay true, and things can flow. Tend the gentle strength of a cow, and this goes well.
The six lines
Your first footsteps are tangled and uneven. Go with respect and attention, and there is no fault.
A golden yellow light, centered like noon. Balance like this is the most favorable of all.
The sun is sinking. If you do not beat a clay pot and sing, you only sigh over old age. That grief is dangerous.
It arrives with no warning, catches fire, goes dead, and ends on the heap. Force this abrupt rarely lasts.
Tears flow, you sigh in grief. Honest sorrow, felt in full, turns out to be favorable.
The king goes out to set things right. He strikes the chief and spares the followers, and there is no fault.
The I Ching is a tool for reflection. Do not use it as the basis for medical, legal or money decisions.
