What Feeds You
yí · Mountain over ThunderNotice what you nurture, and what nurtures you.
Staying upright here goes well. Watch what people feed on and who feeds them, then ask what you keep reaching for yourself, for body and for mind.
The six lines
You set aside your own sacred tortoise to stare at another's moving jaws. Trading your own worth for envy is dangerous.
You look downward for food, against the usual order, or up to a high hill. Going out this way is dangerous.
You go against what truly nourishes. Persisting here is dangerous. Leave this path unused for ten years; nothing good lies along it.
You seek nourishment from below, and that goes well. Watch with a tiger's steady gaze, hunger unbroken, and there is no fault.
You leave the usual path, leaning on others. Staying settled and upright goes well, but this is no time to cross the great river.
Others are fed through you. That is weighty and risky, yet favorable. With care, you can cross the great river.
